We Did It!
Thanks to the support of hundreds community members
new seats for The Bay are on their way!
Our “Take a Seat” Campaign has been a big success. 100% of our new seats have been sponsored by local community members and this raised over $50,000. In addition, several generous local donors and a matching grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corp. enabled us to fully fund this exciting renovation at The Bay Theatre. Thank you!
The new seats will be ready for our Grand Re-opening Holiday Concert on December 17th.
Here are some fun facts about our revitalization project:
➢ 187 new seats are being installed.
➢ The seats are being manufactured in Michigan by Irwin Seating.
➢ All our new seats will be wider than the current/old seats.
➢ The first 2 rows of seats will be removable to create space for tables, dancefloor, etc.
➢ Our vintage wood floor has been refinished to last for many years to come.
➢ New aisle carpeting and aisle lighting is being installed.
Thank you to everyone for the kind and generous support.

About The Bay Community Theatre
The Bay Theatre has been serving northern Michigan for more than 70 years. In late 2018, thanks to strong community support, The Bay was saved from permanent closure and began operating as a 501(c)3 non-profit theatre under the name Bay Community Theatre. Today, “The Bay” is run mostly by volunteers, is open 7 days a week, and is visited by more than 15,000 people each year. The theatre is the only movie theatre in our county and has become a cherished community gathering place for movies, live music, and community events.
